BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle – PS4

There’s a first time for everything and here we are! The first Early Bird review! These are classic style reviews where the code has been provided before launch (in this case the game is launching Friday 22nd June – TODAY when this is posted!) so read on and see if its worth your money and time! Don’t be worried about collusion I don’t work for any publisher or developer unless the public sector decides they are drastically shifting their plans in future… On paper this games concept still baffles me. Take a 2D fighter that’s had four instances now and … Continue reading BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle – PS4

Vampyr – PS4

When you play a horror game you expect a certain amount of tropes to turn up and a vampire focused game is no different. Even if it’s the Masquerade, the┬áLegacy of Kain or even the Buffy video games there’s always the central theme of blood and then the rest of the game is wrapped up in it. Suffice to say I was ready for a new Masquerade game, a ‘dark’ moody RPG with plenty of dialogue to sink my teeth into. Just a shame I didn’t check to see if it had a pulse first. Having a game set in … Continue reading Vampyr – PS4

2 days of PSVR – Down with the sickness

Remember when the press hyped up the 3D effect of the Nintendo 3DS at E3 back in 2010? When everyone in the press were falling over themselves saying how Nintendo had raised the bar and created something magical? Then we all got one and found the 3D was interesting for about a nanosecond before it was turned off to be forgotten about until one or two legendary titles got the 3D aspect so spot on you got a better experience through it. VR for me is just like that. I’ve always loved trying new ways of playing video games from … Continue reading 2 days of PSVR – Down with the sickness

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap – PS4

Wooonderboooooy, what is the secret of your power? Apparently it’s getting transformed by a magical ball of blue flame! We all know this has been out for a while (since April 2017) on PC/PS4/Switch/Xbox1/Linux/Mac but it’s only just recently had a physical release (13th Feb 2018). With all that said. Is now the time to dive in? If you’ve ever played a Nes/MasterSystem action platformer in your life you’ll know exactly what to expect from Wonder Boy. A high level of difficulty even on the lowest setting, amazingly quirky ideas, some obtuse gameplay and a metroidvania aspect of powering up … Continue reading Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap – PS4

Extinction – PS4

Well I have to say, this one caught me by surprise. A few different companies involved that I know (Thank you again Iron Galaxy for Street Fighter 3 on PS3) and no idea of what game to expect. From the artwork I’d say it’s a story based single player akin to Enslaved but it turns out I was so wrong. Attack on titan instantly springs to mind and given Attack On Titan 2 Wings of Freedom is recent this does feel a bit knock off. The games has had a few bugs and it has blue screen crashed just through … Continue reading Extinction – PS4

Wolfenstein: The New Order – PS4

2014 seems a lifetime ago. Well 4 years to be exact, still we know how games are hard to keep track of. Occasionally a big hitter will slip by you if not for budget or time constraints. Wolfenstein has always been on “the list” and the sequel is high on it but other releases got in the way and one thing lead to another and I’m running out of excuses damn it. Finally I’ve made time to go kill nazis! I’ve needed this more than I realised. A well crafted tightly made, Bond/Indiana style brain-off kill Nazi first person shooter. … Continue reading Wolfenstein: The New Order – PS4
