What to do if your craving BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

So you’ve finished playing the beta (click here for my take on it)and want more but you’re not sure what to do with yourself. We’ve all been there (I know I have previously) but it’s ok I’m here to help! There’s plenty of options so lets rock! Play BlazBlue: Central Fiction on PS4 Playing the previous BlazBlue is a fairly obvious start but it’s often overlooked which is a shame as the game is enormous. If your on a budget and want a blisteringly fast paced 2D anime fighter that will last for single player modes and options, you can’t go wrong … Continue reading What to do if your craving BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle – Exp Ops

Here we are at last. What is set to be the last BlazBlue in a long series of confusingly named titles with fantastic 2D anime fighting prowess. I still remember nearly breaking my thumbs playing the original on the Xbox360. Calamity Trigger was not to be taken lightly. Then followed the 3 other titles with additional releases for extras, artwork and DLC. It started to become common to have a release followed a year later by an ‘extend’ edition which also ended up heavily discounted when the next title came along. I’ve played them all but lost track of the story … Continue reading BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle – Exp Ops

Video games and the tale of the National Lost Sock Memorial Day

Everything has a day now; Butterscotch brownie day, Eat what you want day, National Sleepover Day… so it makes total sense to mourn the lost socks of yonder. It also got me thinking to video games that you lose, borrow, lend out and never see again. Haunted by the empty case or special pins from the limited edition that can never be classed as ‘near mint complete set’ again. In the spirit of abstract sense and lists of nonsense here are some game things you’ve probably lost to time and should take a moment for… in sock form. A Pokemon … Continue reading Video games and the tale of the National Lost Sock Memorial Day

Games to play on National Pet Day

Who doesn’t love pets? At one time or another I’ve had dogs, a cat, fish, hamsters and now our house has two lovely rabbits (or little buggers depending on what kind of mood they’re in). It’s another ‘national’ day that only seems to exist to promote something cheesy but hey why not go with the flow and celebrate having pets! What better way to do that then to look at some of the best pets in video games? Dogmeat – Fallout (all of them) Dogmeat is such a charming dog in all the Fallout games. If he’s not an important … Continue reading Games to play on National Pet Day

The rant you’ll probably want to ignore about Star Trek Discovery (but the issues you’ll probably not expect)

Spoilers for season one. duh. Finished Discovery. Before this rant starts, I did enjoy it enough to probably watch more of it. Hold your breath…. It’s over-hyped trash. It relied too heavily on a weak story, flimsy script and overkill CGI that they can’t decide what it did. Some really great characters constantly wasted. Oh and no the swearing was like the first Guardians of the Galaxy, call me a prude all you like (and I’d laugh as I swear fucking constantly) but just throwing it into the episode where it sat was clearly due to lazy writing to get … Continue reading The rant you’ll probably want to ignore about Star Trek Discovery (but the issues you’ll probably not expect)

Wolfenstein: The New Order – PS4

2014 seems a lifetime ago. Well 4 years to be exact, still we know how games are hard to keep track of. Occasionally a big hitter will slip by you if not for budget or time constraints. Wolfenstein has always been on “the list” and the sequel is high on it but other releases got in the way and one thing lead to another and I’m running out of excuses damn it. Finally I’ve made time to go kill nazis! I’ve needed this more than I realised. A well crafted tightly made, Bond/Indiana style brain-off kill Nazi first person shooter. … Continue reading Wolfenstein: The New Order – PS4

PUBG Edition (Player Unknown Battleground Goose Edition)

Who’d have thought it? HouseHouse kindly sent me an early build of Untitled Goose Game (which by the way looks amazing) and would you believe it? It came with a complete cross over game with PUBG! It turns out annoying the gardener was simply a tutorial for the main game, a ruthless 100 player arena survival game for the most badass goose. Obviously the geese can’t hold guns so to attack other goose the player must press a number of  buttons in quick succession to honk the loudest. This startles the opponent and sends them flying out of the arena. The … Continue reading PUBG Edition (Player Unknown Battleground Goose Edition)

Games to play instead of reviewing Metal Gear Survive

Disclaimer – A review for Metal Gear Survive is in the works but it’s such hard going when you previously enjoyed Metal Gear Solid titles that I thought I’d pop a few thoughts out there for you to read. If your curious why I’m taking this stance check out my Beta experience opinion. Warioware Quick thinking, fast reactions and able to analyse and react to any situation, that’s what you need in Metal Gear but it’s also the same for WarioWare. There’s a new Wario Ware game in the works! We’re all hopeful it’s better than Mario Party: The Top … Continue reading Games to play instead of reviewing Metal Gear Survive

Games that would be improved by adding Attack on Titan

The Attack on Titan anime is amazing, I think we can all agree that’s the case. It continued to win awards years after the first season released and the second season (although technically more like the 4th) has proven that the series has legs to carry its shambling disfigured strange manga through into the limelight enough to make 2 live action movies and even an anime film covering the events of the season. There have been a few licensed AOT games and they very in quality from the absolute trash 3Ds Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains to the phenomenal … Continue reading Games that would be improved by adding Attack on Titan
